Dear Parents and Students,
For over three decades, Inspire Dance Arts has provided students with exciting performance experiences through its Recitals. It’s a rite of passage for thousands of dancers; a chance to shine in front of family and friends, that students anticipate with nervous excitement.
A big part of the dance training process includes learning through performance. The experience helps build self-esteem, self-assurance, and contributes to a sense of confidence. Performance opportunities contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities. That onstage experience can result in better in-school presentations, improved social skills, and strong interview skills for future college or job opportunities.
The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop retention skills, and they learn the positive aspects of working as a team.
It is the responsibility of the entire community, students, parents, teachers and directors to do their part to make a great show. The recital is only as successful as we make it - let's work together to make the recital a magical experience for your child!
We look forward to a great show!

We pride ourselves on selecting great, age appropriate costumes that students and families will love!

All children will be left with the capable Inspire Dance Arts staff or volunteer for the entire rehearsal and recital. All parents are welcome to stay in the lobby until the theatre auditorium doors open.
The goal of this time is to familiarize your child with the theatre stage and backstage, dressing room and process.
It is our goal to make the entire recital experience a complete JOY for you and your child.
Photo Week:
Hair, Make-up & Tights
Dress Rehearsal: This is a CLOSED dress rehearsal and only one ticket is attached to admit ONE PERSON PER FAMILY.
This is the only chance you will have to record or take pictures of your own. Please come in to the theatre and sit in the audience with your dancer to wait for instructions.
HAIR: Inspire Dance Arts does require uniform hair styles for dancers on stage. We encourage parents to take our French braiding course earlier in the year (April) in order to practice and know what is expected of them and what needs to be done. Two French braids are preferred but one is absolutely acceptable. No colour elastics or clips should be used as they will be removed if used. The studio does offer assistance with braiding for a fee of $30. This covers the time used and replenishment of the hair kits used. If you are interested in this service, pelase email or call the office well in advance.
Bangs should be pinned back as it is helpful to have your child's hair off their face so that parents, family, friends and the video camera can clearly see your little star on stage.
Make-up: Each child should have on: 1) lipstick 2) blush and 3) purple-ish eye-shadow
Please see below a tutorial on stage makeup to better assist you. Little dancers do not need to wear as much makeup as the girl in the video. False eyelashes are optional for all dancers.
Please remove all jewellery, underwear, watches and earrings, etc.
Costume: Please have your child ready to dance in: 1) first costume 2) proper tights 3) French braids 4) shoes.
Stage tights are not going to match skin tone. Tights are "classical ballet pink" or "tan" and have no correspondence with ethnicity.
Dress Rehearsal:
No parent will be allowed to remain backstage during the rehearsal or the show for any reason. Should your child have a medical condition or safety issue that our staff needs to be aware of, please submit it in writing to: info@inspire-dance.com.
Please be advised that it is Inspire Dance Art's mission to make the recital a positive experience for all involved. We reserve the right to prevent your child from performing onstage if your child is demonstrating any kind of physical or emotional distress.
